Welcome to the website for Texas Spring Cypress (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a place where members, supporters, and the public can connect, find information, and learn about us. We are extremely proud of our dynamic members and are known for our award winning community service programs. This chapter was established by twenty–four women devoted to serving the city of Houston. On March 11, 1995 Texas Spring Cypress Chapter was chartered. The name Spring Cypress was appropriately chosen because it suggests expansion, viability, continuity, and growth.
The Links, Incorporated founded in 1946, is one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. It is an international non-profit corporation with a membership of over 15,000 professional women of color in 288 chapters located in 42 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.
Texas Spring Cypress (TX) Chapter is now 59 members strong and growing. Our members are professional women from many disciplines including medicine, law, education, finance, government, social services and business owners/partners. We continue to honor the legacy and commitment to service that was inherent in the philosophy developed by the charter members more than 20 years ago.
The aim of Texas Spring Cypress (TX) Chapter is to implement transformational programs that impact the community and support the National goals of the national organization. We strive to enrich the lives of the residents in our service area, Acres Home Community, through programs and partnerships that will impact their lives through education and awareness for positive change. The mission is to provide programs in the areas of Services to Youth, Health and Human Services, International Trends and Services, National Trends and Services, and The Arts delivered using a proven results-driven model that includes evaluation and sustainability.
Lastly, providing service is our joy and could not be accomplished without community support. We engage in fundraising to afford our chapter the opportunity to provide scholarships to college bound students who graduate from the local high schools in the community. We value our partners and donor relationships with schools, corporations, businesses, government and social organizations as we affect positive change in the Acres Home Community.
We hope you will find this site informative, easy to use and full of resources about what we do on behalf of those we serve. Please visit our website often and join us in our support of the Acres Home Community.
