Texas Spring Cypress Chapter uses an umbrella approach to incorporate the Five Facets as outlined in the National Program Areas of the Links, Incorporated.
These include Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, and International Trends and Services.
Our MISSION is to empower our membership so that we can effectively empower the communities in which we work. Our goals include increasing the number of sustainable, measurable programming; increasing collaboratives, partnerships, and program funding; and extend our existing initiatives to include those that most affect African Americans.
Texas Spring Cypress Chapter’s service area, Acres Homes, remains economically and socially disadvantaged. Opportunities are limited for school-aged children, particularly middle school students, to gain exposure to a variety of cultural activities and positive experiences. Programs are greatly needed to enhance academic success, high self-esteem, and acceptable social and moral behaviors. Therefore, the focus of the Texas Spring Cypress Chapter is to serve as mentors and facilitators in implementing its “JEWELS” Program.
JEWELS Goals and Objectives
To assist in preparing young female students for academic success.
To provide these students with the knowledge and tools to make positive life choices that will enable them to maximize their potential to become productive citizens in society.
To provide positive reinforcement relative to self worth, self esteem, and acceptable values and morals.
To expose young females to a variety of cultural experiences.
To enhance parental involvement in the lives and activities of our “JEWEL” students.
